Alien Picnic

Posted by mrshhunter on Thursday Mar 15, 2018 Under EYFS

The children in Early Years have been exploring space over the last half term.  To celebrate the end of the topic we invited the children’s families in to take part in an alien picnic.  The children made sandwiches, decorated buns and wrote menus for the party and they all performed the space songs and poems we have been learning.  It was a lovely afternoon and a great way to end a topic that the children have loved.

Posted by bedaleprimaryschool on Friday Feb 23, 2018 Under Years 5 and 6

In Years 5 and 6, we looked at some Kandinsky’s famous works of art and how he listened to music for inspiration as well as how he used to see colours and shapes when he heard the sounds. We listened to some music by Wagner as we created our artwork, which you can see below.

We hope you like it…

Wycar v Amen

On a chilly Thursday afternoon, year 3 and 4 took on their 3rd House competition. The aim was to have children officiate, timekeep, organise and manage their House teams. It was all done extremely well from all who took part. Furthermore, with Wycar and Hird finishing joint top on points, the winners emerged as Hird for having the superior goal difference.

Well done to Hird who have now won all 3 of our House competitions so far!

Young Voices at Sheffield Arena

Posted by mrspikebedale on Tuesday Jan 23, 2018 Under Uncategorized

On Monday 15th January, Bedale Primary School Choir had and amazing experience attending the Young Voices concert at Sheffield Arena. Mrs Harland has been working hard with the choir since September in preparation for the event. Twenty nine Bedale Primary School children made up part of the 5000 strong Young Voices Choir led by David Lawrence, a renowned conductor. Many families also came along as fantastic support for the evening performance, which was much appreciated by all. The children also had the privilege of hearing and singing with other professional musicians. Natalie William’s wrote a fantastic song, especially for the occasion, which is due to be released as a single. There was also an acapella group called ‘The M4gnets’, a young solo single called Alfie Sheard and an amazing dance group called Urban Strides. All in all it was an amazing experience for all involved and the children represented the school extremely well.

Egypt Explorer Day

Posted by mrjholmes on Monday Jan 22, 2018 Under Years 3 and 4

To launch our new topic theme last week, we had a really fun yet educational filled Egypt Day. The children came dressed as explorers and they looked excellent! From experiencing an ancient tomb in darkness and finding canopic jars to creating jewellery and reading hieroglyphics just like they used to, the day had it all. Evidently, the children were left with intriguing thoughts, ready to explore Ancient Egypt further. We look forward to seeing some of the pyramids that the children make at home for their homework, to find a spot in our museum.

Phase One of the Spiritual Garden is finally complete. Rev Ian and Rev Kathleen came in to bless and open the garden with a special service. Mr Kirby kindly played the guitar for us. We had a range of interesting weather which added to the special occasion. The children are now able to access the garden at lunchtimes and playtimes. We will also be using it soon in our lessons. Thank you to everyone who supported the school to achieve this.
